Opportunity image

We are seeking passionate individuals to join our anti-grindadráp campaign in the Faroe Islands as volunteers. This is a unique opportunity to be a part of a committed team dedicated to ending whaling in the Faroe Islands.

The campaign aims to end the cruel and unnecessary practice of dolphin drives in Faroese waters. As a volunteer, you will be working with experienced crew members in the Faroes, documenting and exposing activities, giving policy makers and the global community all the knowledge they need to push for an end to the drive hunts and slaughter of pilot whales and dolphins.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the campaign coordinator and crew to support the mission
  • Document all activities related to the grindadráp, the drive in and tagging of marine mammals and investigation of the commercial aspects of the dolphin drives
  • Support local anti-grindadráp activists in their activities and engage in some communal activities to strengthen relations.

Requirements

  • Passion for marine conservation and animal protection
  • Willingness to work long hours, both day and night
  • Ability to adapt to living and working in close quarters with others
  • Physically and mentally fit and able to perform tasks such as being outside and standing for extended periods in bad weather, whilst staying calm under pressure when confronted
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Willingness to abide by CPWF UK's principles of non-violent direct action and understanding how this applies when working against legal dolphin drives in a foreign country
  • Able to commit to at least 2 weeks of volunteering on ground

Benefits:

  • Opportunity to make a significant difference in the fight against whaling
  • Hands-on experience working with a passionate team of like-minded individuals
  • Opportunities for personal and professional growth
  • Travel expenses covered and accommodation provided
  • The chance to explore Faroes and its natural beauty
